We are thinking of doing the above next year so looking for advice for Le Mans, Best place/site to stay, must do things apart from race etc. Thinking I need to book now (if not already too late) for the site and tickets, are they combined?

Thanks in advance.

Michael

The ticket agencies will be taking bookings now but if you want to buy direct from the ACO and cut out the middle man tickets usually go on sale in October. Next year is the hundredth anniversary and with more Hypercars entering is likely to sell out quite fast.

https://aco.activetrail.biz/2022-24HAUTOS-alerte-ouvertureGB allows you to sign up to their mailing list for ticket info.

If you want to use an agent I can recommend www.justticketsandmotoring.co.uk

Regular campsite places are now numbered and marked out at 7x5m so not good if you’ve got a big van, although some sites do have some X-LARGE pitches. Grandstand seats and general admittance tickets are sold separately.

Best campsite is hard to say, I’ve stayed on most, but who your neighbours are can make or break it and where it is in relation to your grandstand. If you plan to use the tram in go to the town then that is near to Houx and Vert campsites so quite a walk from Blue campsite which is on the other side of the track. Check out a circuit map to see the layout. https://www.24h-lemans.com/en/info/circuit-map

Apart from the track action that start Wednesday afternoon, there is a museum, funfair, music stage each evening, driver’s parade in Le Mans on Friday….

A bike is handy for getting to Arnage and Mulsanne corners.

If you decide to go you’ll have a great time, I hope the links work.

I book through 1stfortickets. I always stop at Expo- no set pitches, but if you get there Wednesday you would be fine. We normally park next to a cow shed/ sheltr- so if sun is out you have shade, if raining you stay dry ( with wind breaks you can create your own area). Other benefits- pub over the road and only a short cycle ride to Carefour city for supplies

Thanks all, I have registered interest, looks expensive:rolleyes:

Booking direct with ACO (but no-longer a member) this year - campsite 77€, general admittance 89€ and grandstand 120€. If you’re there for a week I don’t think that’s too bad. Obviously going through an agent will be more expensive.
Getting there is the big cost, so if you make it part of a longer trip it all helps.

TDF will be 3wks later than next years centenary race program from what i can see, plenty to do in those weeks though.

Remember next year is the centenary, as both the Le Mans 24 and Classic are expected to be busier than ever. There are sites which offer shuttle services to the track.

I called just tickets which transferred me to lycian which is where I got the expensive from as they do packages at £500, then got a call back from Paul at just tickets who then quoted prices similar to DorsetDrifter (seems they arecsiater companies). Got to call back in a month or so as no tickets or pricing till then, he was also helpful as to what we need and best places for a 1st timer, he did say not to bother with a grandstand ticket first time.

This is where dutch friends with their Austin Healey’s stayed, not cheap but good quality they said.

other friends have stayed at this site, limited hook ups though

Following this thread with interest as we want to do Le Mans in 23 as well (y)

Any interest in getting a group together on one of the sites? I like the idea of having a few vans around that we trust.

Maybe a MH Fun Rally?

Paul has always been very helpful and knows his stuff, ask for him when you call back.

Grandstands are free for practice sessions on Wednesday and Thursday so you can move around and try different viewing points. They guarantee you a seat for the start and some cover from the sun or rain and a base to return to but are rarely used for very long during the race.
