Very nice find how much larger than a Honda Monkey Bike ?

For a moment I thought a new weird toy might be inflicted on The Bash 'Ped Racing. :)

Almost twice the size !
That's different and well worth saving.
Have you seen this?

Aint seen that one but plenty of others....
As you can see from the pic, this one it is not in too bad condition and a good starting point

As you say, seems all there, good starting point.
When I restored the MZ all parts were available from Czechoslovakia.

Looks pretty straight and complete so should be an easy build.
Worst thing with rebuilding bikes is obtaining the correct bolts, washers and cables.
Hate when someone does a rebuild and uses standard of the shelf bolts that still have the writing on the head!!

Absolutely. Great minds.
I'm ust rebuilding an Aprilia and cleaning every one of their special small headed bolts and machining all the writing of any others.

My mate had a Loris Reggiani rep.
I always stayed loyal to the Suzuki RGV's (y)

Nice 125 - the 250 is for your son then?
My body is too old to suffer the torment of clip-on's and rear set's but I didn't want to lose the 2-stroke riding thrill.
So I built myself a Suzuki TDRGV 250 - the concept is influenced by Yamaha's lovely TDR250..............
Not quite finished yet, but roadworthy enough to pass an MOT test. Just got to fight the DVLA to get an age-related registration 👍

A couple of years ago I built a SR600 - 350 YPVS Special. I had the v5 for the SR so DVLA just treated it as a change of engine - no problems.
My son bought the Aprilia but he needs me to fix it

The donor bike doesn't have a V5 as it is / was a competition only bike (RMZ-250 motocross bike).

The next - (last???) project is at rest in the shed.
Its a Cagiva Mito and I have an idea to fit it with a motocross two stroke single cylinder engine.
With your connections do you know of any going for sale?

Last thing you want in that is a 2 stroke mx motor. They have very light flywheels so they spin up quicker and are basically not suited to road use - enduro bike engines, like my Rotax 250, have a much heavier flywheel than it's mx version to give it some "bottom end".
Yamaha motors are a popular fit in the Mito's - seen a few and they look good.
A KTM 380 enduro motor would give it some zing.

Speaking of 2 strokes my RD build underway at last , been over 10 years collecting the bits , same here polish the bolts to get rid of markings for those that are too far gone for new zinc plating . View attachment 730784
RD 350 E?
Nice :drinks:
I often use stainless bolts and polish off the marks on a linisher. You can also get a polished (chrome) finish with a bit more polishing.
Handle bar clamp bolts for instance.
I also avoid Allan cap bolts.

How do you blank of the head stock bearing cups?
I use a 2"? hole saw to cut two aluminium disks and a piece of threaded bar to pull them together.
Do you have the frame powder coated?
Do not bother witrh anything so posh
The guy I use to do all my powder coating is extremely good. He does a lot of high end one off tech stuff as well as automotive and industrial coating.
He has been in business for for 40 years and been doing for me 23 of those
All threaded bolt holes have rubber bungs in, as does all bearing faces and cups
I am quite happy to just let him do his own thing

RD 250 D , 1977 , in Yellow .
Yeah me too stainless nuts and bolts , put the threaded end in drill and whilst rotating hold it against my bench grinder with fine grit stone to remove markings , finish off with emery flap wheels and then some Solvol . Allen cap screws are a no , no on this era of bike 😉

They are black or olive green on Yamahas 😁

I collected bags of original bolts and screws over the years as the Yamaha ones have numbers on the heads as do other Jap bikes.

on another note one of my RDs I purchased the owner had attempted to tidy it up and swopped all the bolts for stainless as you use to be able to buy bolt kits for your bike.
Most of them I had a nightmare to drill out as they had corroded in the thread🤬🤬

I did know that they are supposed to be green but I've never seen any. I assumed you would know to grease any stainless bolt's and screw.
It is looking a picture.
Is the engine complete?
