Hi

Some of you may have had this already. But I blocked this number a few weeks ago, but because it kept trying. I went and looked online. It`s different numbers but same area code.

Viz:-

The prevailing review of 02039 indicates that it is HMRC scam call!

Please be warned that scammers may call you from 02039 pretending to be from HMRC and tells you that you will be arrested for unpaid tax please don't worry. You can rest assured that this is not the Inland Revenue but is a well-known scam and there is no case against you. Please take a look on HMRC phone scam Visualisation ( Broken Link Removed ) or how this scam works on Broken Link Removed. You can also report suspicious activity to the HMRC’s phishing team

i got one last friday nobody has turned up to arrest me yet

I got that one a few weeks back, funny enough exiting from Eurotunnel this side, after transferring a few Bob back into Stirling.
Straight on to block list.

I never get scam calls on my mobile. Perhaps it's because I've not used Facebook for more than 10 years, don't use google as a search engine, opt out of everything I can and use tracker blockers. I am not at all technical but it seems to work for me.

I paired the motorhome radio with my phone last week , the only call i have had this week was this HRMC scam

I had the HMRC scam yesterday stating that there is a fraud case being launched against me. To speak to my case officer press 1. There was a phone number but it’s a waste of time reporting it, the fraudsters have 1000s of numbers they use. Fortunately I didn’t come over on a boat load of bananas.

just had a persistent and adaptable call from "Amazon Prime"

Started by saying my annual renewal was due and there was an issue with the payment which I needed to confirm details for.

I come back with my renewal has just been completed 2 months ago.

She then tells me that a large payment was being made on my account in another country and I needed to go online so they could access my PC to directly input a code into my account to stop it.

I tell her that as a Quaker (the first thing that came into my head I actually meant to say Amish) I didn't have a computer as it was alien to my beliefs (not sure why I would have a phone or an Amazon account come to that but she didn't question it).

She then tries to tell me that someone had set an account up in my name (she got my surname right but not my first initial) and had used my home details (which she was not allowed to divulge to me over the phone!) so I would be responsible for any debt but that she could sort it for me.

I by now was totally bored of the wind up so told her she sounded very nice and asked her what the weather was like at amazon HQ in America.

She was obviously more bored than me as she hung up on me.

I've had two now and both on a Saturday afternoon. I suspect civil service tax inspector's don't work Saturdays. So Ignored it. I still sleep nights

I would tell them to come and arrest me. BUSBY😁

Add your mobile and land line numbers to the telephone preference service, it’s free and really does prevent a lot of these nuisance calls.

If I am a bit bored, I string them along, playing dumb and pretending I am struggling with the things they are asking me to do. The persistence is unbelievable. But eventually, I usually start laughing and they hang up, knowing they have been wound up. I often tell them that my number is registered as a premium number and they have already been charged a connection fee for calling me with each minute costing them £5. They soon hang up.

I generally suggest they get a job at a fast food place as they def aint got the brains to run a scam !

I always say “Please tell me you are not going to do this for the rest of your life.” :gum:

I love to play along with scam calls - my favourite is re accidents claims, when they say “I understand you had an accident?” I then start wailing and crying saying how horrible it was and it was a “terrible, terrible accident!!!” When they ask for more details I slowly recount the (fictional) tale of how I had a really bad curry and I farted and sh4t myself at the same time ....”Oh, it was a TERRIBLE accident!!”.

But on a serious note, whilst it’s unlikely that none on here have been scammed, my friends father, who had the early stages of dementia, was conned into going into the local supermarket and buying Amazon vouchers to pay for a fictional tax fine. It was only due to a savvy till worker that he was stopped from handing over his cash via that route. So unfortunately there are those in society that fall victim to this due to impairment or old age.

Just had automated call from BT. They're going to disconnect my landline because of "suspicious activity". Press 1 to speak with an executive etc etc.

I spoke to one of these people who keep phoning me and told him to sod off or something like that!

He rang me back about five minutes later and said “ I hope someone murders you”.
