Just seen your film channel showing the journey to the Sosta and now realised that it's like an Aire - which is good but it we do go to Garda, we'd need a site.
Your film stated that you travelled in August on the footage - was it really hot and was traffic a mare? - just out of curiosity as some have commented plus the OP was planning on August.

Hi Gav,

It was baking....absolutely baking when we were there in late August. To give you an idea of pitch size take a look at us accessing a pitch at Camping Fornella on the western side of Garda.....they certainly know how to cram you in and I think in August they're probably all much the same.

Traffic not too bad really...even the Gothard Tunnel was ok.

To be honest we didn't really enjoy the lake aspect of Garda as much as we did at Iseo or Lugano en route down. The sosta at Peschiera was a handy staging post for the old town and within easy walking distance of the train station for Verona and beyond.

If I were to venture to those parts again I'd probably explore sites further up along the eastern shore.

We stayed at Francesco last August, as others have said large site with plenty of facilities. Mainly Dutch when we were there and although we had a lake front site they were not that large and the Dutch would put multiple vans, tents etc on a lot of pitches right up to and sometimes over the dividing lines between pitches. Some noise late at night, twice we had to tell a group of teenagers to bugger off around 3 in the morning as they congarated by the lake access points which we were next too.

Pool facilities are good but hard to get a lounger or umbrella unless you are there at the beginning or end of the day.

Easy access to The train station by bus or to Sirminione by boat and some great restaurants within walking distance.

We would probably stay there again but not in peak school holiday season.
