Any recommendations for a nice site in the lakes ? Any knowledge tips or hints be great. First week of May We are thinking of going

As always many thanks in advance Paul

hi paul, the c&cc site in Keswick is a lovely site, though a few years since I was there.
if its wilding you are after doesn't get much better than wrynose pass, but not suitable for larger vans.

In the summer we stayed at Braithwaite Fold C&CC club site in Bowness on Windermere for 5 days and hired a car. Much easier to get around during the day and lots of places to eat and drink at night.

If you don't want a club site then I would recommend Castlerigg Hall site, just outside Keswick. However as mentioned by NicNac not ideal for really large vans.

CC site at Coniston is very good and nestled among the trees, about a 20 mins walk into Coniston or 5 min walk down to the lake, some great walking to be had around there. (y)

Another vote for this site, stayed there twice.

We stayed at Braithwaite Fold C&CC club site in Bowness on Windermere twice now, lovely path at the far end of the site where you can take a stroll along the lake into town for a morning coffee (y)

C and CC site at Keswick. Quick walk into town to many pubs and restaurants And lovely supermarket. It gets really booked up though so you may want to check sooner rather than later! Lovely walks from town centre.
