After having missed out on a couple of these (can’t believe how quickly they were snapped up), I find myself quite draw to them. They seem to have a quality finish and usually the better/bigger engines.
The first one was a 2008 Laika Ecovip1 on a 3.0 fiat chassis
The 2nd was a Ford Laika x700
Has anyone had any of these models or can advise if it’s worth holding out for one?
Thanks ??

I have a Laika Ecovip 7r on a 2001 plate and it’s a really good van well built with loads of storage. I for one would recommend them. Mine is on a Fiat base, wouldn’t touch a Ford base for the obvious security reasons.

We have a Laika Ecovip 712 ( 2016 ). Very nicely put together. Bit hard to find secondhand as I don't think many were imported.

Stick with the search they do come up for sale sometimes but usually snapped up very quickly.

Are the Fords that bad? (Never had one to be fair)
Also, are the Laika’s winterised with the double floors like Hymers?
This was the ford that I missed...

Thanks @QFour??
Does yours have the twin/winterised floor like the Hymers do?

We love ours, Rexosline 680, has twin floor and garage. Nice build quality but not impressed with upholstery fabric due to light colour getting discoloured.

Our Van is winterised, ford are know to be easy to break. Just do a search on here regarding Ford vans.

Also an EcoVip II owner here (2012 Ducato based).

The EcoVip's are a much better van vs the x700 range, equally Rexos are a step up again.

German build quality (owned by Hymer) with Italian design flair.

Would happily go for another if we downscale later on, probably another EcoVip but a profile.

Thanks @Ridgeway??
All very educational re models.
Is this one the older version of yours - missed out on it last month. Had arranged to go down, then the chap text me to say his friend wanted it?

Yes very warm during the winter months. Also has twin blinds over the front windscreen and hot air vents across the front as well run off the Alde heating. You certainly don't feel chilly sitting in the front in the evening.

I too was impressed by the build quality of the Laika, so much so I almost bought one. This is the main importer and yes they do get second hand ones in. Some really good deals with them at the moment.

yes correct although there's hardly any difference between the 2 and the 1. The Luton style is always called "Classic" although there's 7 different layout types.

The floor, fresh and grey water are winterised and actually the floor is a double layer as there's a significant storage area down there. The only negative this creates is that the van is quite high to get in and out of (3 steps vs 2 on most vans) but that does give you get excellent ground clearance, even on the back end where it's most important (can be important when boarding ferries vis steep ramps).

Let me know if you need any more specific information, we've had ours 6yrs now and i've gotten to know my way around it pretty well.

Think you will find that Southdown Motorhomes in Portsmouth have been importing them longer. Lowdhams in Nottingham also used to import them.
