I have no problem with ladybirds on the outside of our van. Yesterday evening we had to get rid of dozens of them inside the van. All the windows / flyscreens were closed and ladybirds are not that small so the question is - how do they get in?

Maybe the gas drop outs? Ours have got a grille over them but ladybirds are small enough to get through.

They seem to overwinter in our house window frame openings and frequently find a way into the house.
I think they are not native, herlequin ladybirds maybe ?

How do spiders get in? Same way as ladybirds I suppose? It’s an unsolved mystery;);)(y)

They push through window seals, even when closed. lady bugs leave a scent to help them return the next year too.

You probably bring a few in on your clothes.

The rest tunnel through the underside of your van (they bring ladders) :)

They live inside Fray Bentos pie tins and burrow into French baguettes and toilet rolls, just waiting for the right moment to pop out and bite you. Nasty little bu**ers the Harlequin variety, their bite is painful and dangerous if you are susceptible to insect vampires.

That answers why my Mum gets them every year in her flat ... she's got hundreds again, all different types!

Do you want me to get my Mum to parcel some up for you? :) If so, what colour combination do you want??? :D2

One of my favourite predators, they eat lots of greenfly an aphids. Lacewings eat them too (acewing:rolleyes:)

A few years ago I had loads of ladybirds in the van. There were swarms of them at Wolverley CCC site and they got in around the top of the cab doors.

I know but like spiders, I want to them to stay outside in nature not inside my house! They overwinter in our patio door frames too. I think they are harlequin ones.

2 of them lever up the door seal and the others all march in all in a line.
Simples ! ! !
Mitch.
