This is one for anyone who has been down to follow the Tour de france. Im thinking about going down for a week in September to watch the tour. Hopefully do Meribel then up for the Time Trial up La planche de belle filles. Has anyone been up there in a motorhome and what is parking like. Is it likely to be closed from bottom to top?

Yes LPdBF is always closed at the bottom of the climb, it’s barriered off as soon as it kicks up. There’s a farm that allows you to stay for about €10 a night just off the last side road before the barriers, nice lady that owns it and easy in out with the van, she was very accommodating with us last year as we had a trailer with the van so we were quite long. The police are keen and will move you on although I suspect this year it will all be a bit quieter. Hopefully we’ll be there and as usual I’ll take a spin up the route in the AM

I know the climb but haven’t been on it during the TDF. It’s a wider road and shorter (less steep) than la Planche so there’s a good chance you’ll be able to park roadside.

Just had a look at the official site it goes up to a new mountain the Col de la loze. Had a look at some you tube videos and there is a really good long section to park with a 20% gradient for the riders.
