Often thought of going out that way from Glen Coe, Have looked on google earth and street views but does not really show much. Please enlighten me ref beauty spots apart from Mare's Tail.

The journey to Kinlochleven is stunning- Glen Etive and Rannoch moor are hauntingly beautiful; and Kinlochleven itself has many many walks in the hills - up to the old Lodge- over the Devils staircase - walking up to the little dam or the big Dam. The village is very quaint and although I havent been for a few years I have fond memories of the clean air and friendly locals. The river has salmon in it - as a child I often saw people getting up to their waists struggling with a big fish. Currently there is a newish face book page 'Kinlochleven past and present' with many pics of Auld Folks Old times but also lots of stunning scenes of the locks and lochans- the deer wandering around the village and the general beauty of the mountains. Fort William and Ballachulish are near enough to visit for a day - the high road in is a bit windy and - well steep drops ! The low road is flatter and goes past the cemetery - a lovely tranquil place. Lots of wild camping round there - lots of walks along the shore and up n down the burn. Guess I am prejudiced as spent many happy weeks there when my Dad [and hence the family] was on leave from overseas with the Army. The old factory has been turned into an ice wall if you are a climber - certainly worth a visit. Fond memory as teenager [long ago obs ] when a group of American walkers staggered down the hill from some far point on the west highland way , and asked me where the city centre was... this bemused me as a townie as there -er - wasn't one... they looked at me pityingly and explained they wanted a bank; a hotel; cafe and a few shops.... my cousin piped up happily in broad scots 'och ye'll no find any of that here '

Join the face book page ! xx
