Stood on the canal bridge at sowerby bridge this morning and one flew under the bridge into the hedge, just as another one was flying low towards me. I think it was the same one but came back under the bridge30 seconds later.
I’m lucky to see these on my field pond, but most people don’t see one ever

There is (or at least was for several years) one that lived in the harbour wall at Ramsgate.
Unusually it was not bothered by the hordes of people, dogs, seagulls and boats that all moved within meters of where it lived.
It could be seen most days fishing in the harbour.

It's certainly the only one I've ever seen that was not just green flash in the corner of your eye.

I saw one flash past the boathouse pub window on the bank of the Aire river at Saltaire the other day.

Made my day!!

Once in Spain I was driving along on my scooter, with a water-filled ditch alongside the road. A kingfisher started to fly right next to me, so near I could have touched it. It matched my speed for a good ten seconds before peeling off. Unforgettable.

I’ve seen one confirmed sighting of a kingfisher fly by me at a river bank. Never had chance to take a pic 🤔

We've got a local one at the top of Portsmouth harbour but despite a number of pics posted on out local Facebook page, my own pic has eluded me. They are so quick.
