Kew Gardens

Can anyone recommend a site from which we can visit Kew Gardens? Would want to use public transport (bus, train, river boat) to get there.

When do I want to go? We went last year and stayed at e CCC Walton on Thames. It, for us, has a good feeling about it. It not in the LEZ zone either. Close to Hampton court, bikeable, and some eating houses. Nothing there other than a river at the bottom of the site where you can walk, take dogs etc, but a short distance , through the common or housing estate and your walking/biking along the Thames. We went to Kew from there, I have a blue badge so drove but only took about 30 mins. Unfortunately not open until March
