Anyone recommend any places you can safely use an inflatable kayak on or around the West Coast of France

Lac D’Hourtin-Carcans (Maubuisson) fits the bill. Good cycling too.

Gulf of Morbihan in Brittany should be very sheltered and plenty of islands to visit.

Ile de Re aires at Rivedoux Plage (turn right at second roundabout onto island, adjacent to campsite) or Loix (at end of road). Both easy access to beach and sheltered water. At the first watch out for the oyster beds further out, best to study at low tide.
Booking ferry today for two weeks time and may end up in the area and may take my (inflatable) kayak, great for cycling too. One of our favourite destinations. Toll onto island doubles for peak season so will have to look up when it reduces - last time we went there we arrived on last day of cheaper toll (unknowingly).
