Wants to start, sounds like it’s going to start but doesn’t. Any help please

By any chance have you rushed to put the key in and turn engine on to fast, not giving the immobilizer time to sync up ??

Any help ??

Car keys in your pocket?

Sometimes they 'talk' to each other. (and No. I'm not joking)

Hi
No I waited couple of mins, until I turned it over. The padlock light was flashing. Left it went Back and tried again. Still no good

Well I had my vw bug keys on the passenger seat next to me

thank you for you For your replies, I just feel disheartened now about the motorhome

Have you got the body of the key fully open? Sometimes if you have it at an angle it won't disable the security system.

Was your foot on the brake as this is normally necessary.

Hi
No my other half has the one with the body and he doesn’t live with me. I said for him to keep it as a spare

The one I have doesn’t have the body

Maybe you need to renew the battery in the key.
Good luck.

Have you tried pressing the clutch and or the brake peddle at the same time as turning the key.

Sounds like the key you’re trying isn’t doing a handshake with the immobiliser, try the spare key, hopefully an easy fix

Had same problem after not using van for some time, suspected starter battery low due to alarm, etc.
Plugged into house EHU with onboard battery charger to starter battery.
Started OK and no repeat of problem.
who knows.

Are you saying the key your using to start the vehicle is a plain key, no fob or plastic handle?
If so it's unlikely to have the transponder fitted and it will only unlock and turn the engine over.
You need the key with the black plastic end of fob. Inside is the transponder that operates the immobilizer.

A photo of the key body would help

Possibly someone has had a spare key made without the transponder properly set up. Normally Peugeots come with two proper remote keys. FIAT often supply a remote key plus a small key without remote. The small key still has a transponder in though and starts the engine.

Do you have any other form of alarm system?

On our Fiat we have a separate fob to disarm the alarm/mobiliser.

BUT why don't you speak to whoever sold you the m/h first? That would be my first call. It'll be something simple.

Do you by any chance have something like this among your keys? If so it sometimes needs to touched against its other half which on mine is on the dashboard. Just touch them together and it should reset The immobiliser.
