This means you can sit down for a drink or picnic. You must continue to maintain social distance from those outside your household. It's a bit contradictory, we can go out for a picnic but stay at home!

Yes, I agree, we can go for a local picnic. No harm in going out then, especially if we find local isolated spots for a bite to eat and a dog walk.

The roadmap detail doesn’t mention picnics for the 8th and suggests 29th March is when there’s some social easing for Easter it’s a mess.

Monday 29th of March is when the legislation in England changes concerning non essential travel and stay at home requirements. Up until that date you risk a £200 fixed penalty (each) if a police officer considers your journey non-essential.

From 29th March, there is 'guidance' (ie not legislation) asking that any travel is undertaken locally, where possible.

And from 12 April, nights away from home in self-contained holiday accommodation are allowed within England.
