I'm having trouble keeping the battery Charged up on my 2010 Dakota and I'm considering buying a power pack just in case! I have been looking at a Suaoki Jump starter U28 2000A Peak15900mAh. The bumph says it will start a diesel engine up to 8.0L. Anyone got any experience of these, or can advise on a better one. I would be grateful for you comments!

These look good, I've Just bought from Amazon, fast delivery, and wireless phone charger
Although I haven't tried it out yet.

We have one of these

Worked fine when the starter battery was flat, the lead from solar to starter had failed.

Got one of these nearly two years ago
Amazon product ASIN B07R6RDT9FUsed half a dozen times on engines with dead batteries (4lt, 4pot diesel being the biggest) and all have started within 10 seconds. Highly recommended.
Plus, in extremis, I can charge my Macbook from it as well as all the little usb devices.

Thanks for the info everyone. Once the battery is charged would there be a problem if I just disconnected the live terminal to stop the battery discharging?

Erm......I think it would be a good idea to find out why the battery doesn’t hold its charge. Is it knackered? Is there a drain? On hook up? Do you need Battery Master? Solar top up?
Probably other things to consider before you buy a jump starter.

Whatever your battery issue, a jump starter is a handy thing to have in the shed. Another vote for the ‘Clarke Jumpstart 4000’, will start a Ducato with ease and good value.

Just been looking myself and found this which looks good

They do work.. I have one.. But remember to connect it and stand back for a few minutes..
I tested several and did a report in the 'Motorhome Chat' section
The only one I tested in a trial a couple of months ago that did not perform well was a Halfords one.. And that may have just been one not up to spec.. as other folk have reported good results
