Hello everyone, thank you for letting me join!

We have decided to make the plunge at 51 to loose the camper and move to a MH. There are some definite things we want:

Garage
Pull down bed
No longer than 7m
Comfortable sitting area, put feet up!
Auto!

Looking At Swift Escape 614 - any advice appreciated

Welcome(y) having made the same journey from a T5 .... our absolute must have was a fixed bed. Don’t regret it one jot.

Don't rule out continental models. We went form a T5 to a Chausson and found it gave us all we needed at the time. Now have a different model but still a continental one.

We went from a T5 to the Hymer Ayres Rock, probably not what your looking for given your description but at 5.4 meters it’s easy to park has a garage of sorts and most of the features you find in a larger MH plus we can park it on the drive. Good luck with your search.

If you're planning on using the MH in winter then you should really be looking at a continental winterised one. British ones aren't particularly well insulated.

Welcome to Fun.

Welcome. Not knocking swift but we've just changes from a swift 684 had a garage and permanent single/double over and L shaped lounge and side seat but seats not comfy and you could never quite get a comfortable legs out lounging. Partly the continental seat plan but we also found the seat foam not great. Just make sure you check out whatever you look at for lounging in. Note however if your going to be in Europe a lot then you will be lounging outside a lot hence lounge not as important as it it is here.

The 2019 Swift Escape 604 is something I'd look at, I'm not sure the 614 adds anything to justify the extra length, when parking 6m is as long as you want really.

Also check the new Possl Summit Prime models (540/600/640), best get to Dusseldorf, look at the show and order there. Remember full standing headroom is a feature once you ditch the expensive, cramped, bathroom free VW class but you may miss their parking ability - best on a 5.4m Sevel made van conversion.

I wanted Auto too but ended up with a 6 speed manual, TBH it's fine and very controllable so I'd not get too fixed on that. I'd go more for 150bhp or more for the quieter gearing on the motorway.

OP wants a garage - first on his list.

Has yours got a garage? If so, first U-shaped lounge I have heard of with one.
