Looking forward to the great “what van layout next” as the 3 youngsters are likely to be getting a tad more independent (No2 is 17yrs and is already planning camping trips with friends). And we started to think about a 4 berth A class, a sort of future dream van. Most I’ve seen have a rear bedroom with either 2 single beds or a double (French) bed. And knowing our lot there’ll be an odd occasion when we’d need to sleep 5 (travel with 4 and meet up with the 5th) Seeing the typically large space between the 2 single beds on most layouts I wondered if anyone has ever joined these up to make a 3rd occasional bed ? I guess it would be a pretty easy DIY and maybe even it’s a factory option on some vans ?

This is a plan for next year so just starting the process but you know how it goes…..

What you are after is either standard or an option on A Class rear singles.

With Carthagos the extra bits & ladder come as standard, on Hymers they are an option.
A lot of people with Hymers don't bother with the option, we don't.

Cheers Lenny, it’s a Carthago we were thinking of. So basically it’s a posh plank and a small mattress insert i guess ?
