I'm an oldbie MH number 10
so I posted this here - but this deserved a post of its own.

About my woes and how distraught I was regarding the trouble I was having fixing my motorhome air suspension.

I had so much good advice messages of support ideas etc etc... I had offers from Armytwowheels to get some one to find source and pick them up on their way back from Germany, I had detective sleuths tracking down part numbers, links to German companies etc.

Little did I know that the answer was on my doorstep, literally. He who goes by the name of Flairy or "Brian" to me now got in contact to say that he had 4 brand new ones in a box he had picked up to replace his 20 year old ones. We weren't sure they would fit, but Brian literally lives 15 mins from me. I therefore got mine off, drove it over and low and behold they were exactly the same.. Brian let me take it away and even ordered another to replace it and a spare for me. Not before Brian and his wife had shown me round their lovely van that they have cherished for such a long time.

I am normally such a rounded individual who has learnt to deal with stress over the years and turn it in to positives. But sometimes the things that seem so trivial to others can just throw me over the edge, this was one of them things. I have 3 weekends of races coming up, campsites booked and no idea what I was going to do.
Then of course there is that well know "expert dealer of Hymers and Niesmans" that are still yet to call me back, yet to sort the part, yet to give me a price for fitting it despite 3 phone calls and 2 emails of which they have responded to 1. I know we aren't allowed to shame dealers so I won't but the service is diabolical.

SO A MASSIVE THANK YOU TO BRIAN...

coincidently the last time I was in a similar position and having a major panic, that wonderful funster allso called Brian aka Hilldweller came over and sorted that out, so clearly, Brian's are best.!!!!

If you have air suspension, get a spare bellow (or two) really not sure how mine broke, only that the bottom bolt came away, it could leave you stranded on the side of the road, and if you have to head to a certain dealer, you might remain there for months!!!

thank you everyone, faith in humanity restored.

There are several really good Funsters, Flairy is definitely on that list. (y)
I would correct that to "There are lots of really good Funsters". How many times have folks jumped to help another Funster in trouble here and abroad. It's one of the things that makes this place so precious.

Thank you to every Funster that has helped another in trouble, there must be hundreds of you including the OP haganap himself who rarely acknowledges his own propensity to jump in fully clothed to rescue another.

That's great news Paul what relief after looking like you would be off the road for months.
I have been following your other thread but couldn't offer any help over what's been given so I hadn't commented on the thread.

We have Goldsmchitt full air never thought about carring spare air bags. Vans going soon if we have full air on the new one it will be VB as that's what Carthago approve hopefully spares are bit easier to get.

All the gear, and no idea!

Really???🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ if one of those go your stranded, even I carry a pair of spare bags on the van, good insurance. I can’t believe anyone on full air wouldn’t carry a spare rear bag at least for diy fitting, maybe carry a front for a garage to fit for you as they seem a little more involve in replacing a front bag!
Make sure you get some for the new one👍

There are lots of great Funsters.

I first found MHF on an internet search for an answer to a problem. On linking to the site it was immediately obvious that the Forum, and its members, were something special.

Helpful, humorous and (some of them) quite mad! I am so pleased I joined. Endless hours of fun, entertainment, education and help.

BTW haganap , glad you are sorted and Flairy, nice one.👍

not long enough
Glad you got sorted Paul, it was unlike you to sound so down beat 🤔👍

I started my own thread earlier this year where my VB airbags were reported as perished by my Mercedes service centre

Then things get complicated, bump, cancer etc but I have just diarised my service at SAP to check and get sorted

I might carry a couple of spares, to be sure I will never need them 👍

I think mine is still driveable with a burst bag having the Alko chassis but would rather not find out the hard way

Front is similar to replacing a McPherson strut but on an A Class you have to do it from inside so a specialist job.
Indeed, but if you had one on board it could be fitted as soon as you found somebody competent, so no waiting for the part to arrive at least!
I’m pretty confident I could replace a rear bag at the side of the road in 10-15 mins🤔👍👍

I think it will be if it's Semi Air but not if it's Full Air.
Yes if it’s semi air the weight will just go back fully on the spring and carry on and replace at your leisure, but if it were me I’d let the other side bag down fully so both sides just rode on the spring👍
