Got scammed this morning on my credit card - 6 fraudlent transactions in a matter of minutes.
Left campsite just south of Lake Garda this morning and went to petrol station just before the motorway junction. It was one of those where you have to pay and select which pump and which type of fuel you want before it dispenses any fuel. Anyway went to machine to do that and guy in T shirt turns up and starts explaining in sign language what you need to do, i.e. insert card, select pump, etc. Turns out the pump I was at was out of service so he then directs me to another pump and he shows me again. Went through the process on the machine then as I went to push the diesel nozzle into the vehicle and nothing happened he starts strolling off. I call him back and he ignores me while making a call on his mobile. My wife goes inside the petrol station foyer to explain what happened and they said the guy was nothing to do with them. So called Santander Mastercard helpline and after a lengthy security process got through to their fraud office. Apparently 6 card transactions had gone through in the last 15 mins, none of them mine. Santander stopped the card immediately and said they would aim to prevent the payments going through, and reimburse me.
So watch out! Scammers about in this region.
