I keep getting notes through the door or on the van asking if the MH is for sale

Usually they appear handwritten but are laser printed - I even had identical 'hand-written' notes on the same van at different locations!

Most are a 'friendly, flattering' enquiry signed with just a christian name but always a mobile telephone number.

I had one from a 'Motorhome dealer', looked OK - until I searched online - no such firm

I have ignored them all as well as personal approaches at the door

Anyone had similar - or even followed up?

No,nothing similar, but mine’s 12 years old so maybe not attractive to such people.
Does seem odd that you get a lot of it,and to me it sounds dodgy. My only advice, without wishing to worry you, would be to increase you security. Also maybe ask local police if they’ve had many reports of similar happenings locally.

I live on a main road and I have 2 MHs, one is 28 years old, the other 17 years young, always 'lock' the steering over with a steering lock.

Just wondered if others had similar experiences...........

Mine is 14 years old and we do the same.

We have had two handwritten notes asking if our Moho was for sale . 8 months apart - both with a mobile no to ring.Thought it was a cover for someone looking to steal it and had the note as a defence in case challenged. Moho is old ( but loved) so possibly not worth hassle as has an alarm. But now park one car behind it if we go away - blocking it in. Anyone else think this is odd- ?

I get asked if my van is for sale quite often. They have left notes and generally park across our drive when calling .And they always have an Irish accent if I answer the door to them.

You can get the same with houses, if they think they can get a profit by offering cash with a quick straightforward cash sale. The offer will be below market value but to some owners this can be a temptation.
They are normally similar notes that look hand written.

I was parked outside a local garage some years back waiting my turn to go on the ramps for an MOT and a transit pickup pulled in front of me and this chap got out and said in an Irish accent how much do you want for the van I said its not for sale he then said I will give you cash now this went on for quite a while ,I looked in his van there were 3 kids sitting in it no seat belts on .In the end he began to annoy me with his pushy, in your face type of brash cheeky style..I had to tell him where to get off and in the end he said ok and shook my hand .He never even looked inside.

I've often been asked "How much do I want?" for something.
Usually by people who don't look like they're genuinely interested, let alone could afford it.
Even if I could be interested in selling I reply "It's not for sale."
I think they're just trying to determine if it's worth nicking.

Never had such an "enquiry" However, about 2 years ago now. The washing machine broke down and was duly replaced. The old one was placed in a small trailer, with the power cable CUT OFF, behind gates, prior to being taken for re-cycling. We went out for few hours, and on our return said machine had been "lifted".?. Saved me a 8 mile round trip to the tip!.

We do this if there are strangers around and when the ride out, BBQ or fireworks are on in the village.

The only offer we have had was from the supplying dealer who has asked for a chance to sell it on should we trade in or leave the motohoming world :) He offered us almost as much as we paid for it 6 months ago and it will be 3 in July.
