In August we are hoping (everything crossed) to get into Europe with our N&B. Looking at a few sites recommended by a CAMC article, I wonder if they are all doable in 14 days? Advice please!

Doable. Do you have a plan for each destination?

It is doable but you'll spend a fair bit of time just travelling, might be better to reduce the number of stops so you can properly explore the areas.

I may cut the Italy site...for this year

It's doable. But your days are probably going to consist of getting up, driving for a few hours and arriving at the next stop early afternoon. Then getting the afternoon and evening to investigate the local town, before moving on again the next day.

Maybe look at this again. I would ideally like to spend 2 or 3 days in each place.

No, the only destination that we want to definitely do is Chenas as my French exchange friend from 1985 lives there!! We will stop on their vineyard.
You're route is doable but as others have suggested, it is a lot of driving to many destinations and probably quite rushed.

I would also cut out Italy and have some options according to the weather. If it is good, do the German route. If not, I'd look at a plan B - possibly staying in France... Keep flexible.

I would do half the stops so less driving and more time to enjoy the places you go to. Unless you want a driving holiday. (y)

In 2019, we took a similar route down from the Eurotunnel to Italy. We mostly drove for an hour or two each day. We meandered around, but it took us about a month to get there:

When we first started, we crammed 2,500 miles touring into 17 days, including Venice at the eastern end and Isle de Re at the western end.

Enjoyed it, of course, but wouldn't repeat such an exhausting itinerary.

What a difficult decision you will now have to make.
Its one of those decisions as to what you want to see/do on the trip. The Italian lake area on its own is a whole holiday if you wanted to just get there and then back. From that location you could drop into Venice and then you will run out of time. . The trip to Switzerland is worth the holiday and the route down through Luxemburg, Strassburg will tick off a couple of your list. From Switzerland you can come back via Lyon and up through Riems (nice Champagne stop off)

You have a great MH, I would use the facilities of your investment and skip using the campsites. In August you will be paying a fortune. Stick to the french/ German Aires. If you head to Switzerland you will need to use a campsite. Some good ones in ideal positions around Interlaken

I've done lots of trips like that. Both with a full-on caravan and with large frame tents. If you're footloose and don't mind driving, it is quite achievable. I've never booked in advance, at least not more than a day in advance, even in August. That way you can alter itinerary according to your whim at the time, although finding free coastal campsites in August can be a bore.

I would say you have quite a nice easy run there without the Italy site, unless you have some special reason to go there I would cut it out.
My preference would be a bit lower down in France if you have the time.

Stick with France for 14 days. The triangle of France between your 3 French sites have plenty of attractions to keep you busy.

Many funsters would even suggest just stopping at Chenas. A friendly free vineyard stop could keep them busy for the full 14 days ............ :ROFLMAO: .

I think that’s all the people who only get 2 weeks holiday and like to go further afield can do, it’s the nature of the beast I’m afraid, you have to get the miles in. It’s great if you’re retired and can meander aimlessly. Last time I had leave to Austria I battered down from Rotterdam to just south of Munich near the Austrian border in the first day then we took it easy, always do 10-14 hrs driving on the first and last day (it’s not ideal granted) so we can spend more time where we like to be👍

I think it too far. Is there any thing you want to do/see instead of driving?
To be able to do that round trip you will have to sit on boring motorways for hours.
I would find sites on the French boarder down to Strasbourg and into the Black forest / Freiburg
Return back north through France via Nancy /Verdun /Arras

I agree with using the facilities that we have onboard however we do have an 11 year old who will want to swim etc, so I thought a few strategically plotted sites would satisfy him 😉...we have never done lake swimming but am hoping to get the chance!

August Mk2....
Looks good but I'd still have an option B in case the weather isn't great.... We tend to find the weather is more reliable south of Troyes.

Yes the little one will need a pool. The lakes in Switzerland even in August will take your breath away (but you soon freeze). Many german campsites with facilities(pool) have a price to stay on the camp but also have an Aire (Stelleplatz) outside but allow use of the pool. The price is a great deal less.

The problem could be that you'll see so much but miss such a lot, personally I'd cut the stops by half and spend twice the time in those left.

Calais to Reims, Reims to Lyons and Lyons to the Alsace are quite slow roads unless there are decent tolls available.
Not when I was a kid. I once drove from Grenoble to Birmingham in 13 hours. Not a single toll autoroute and stopped only five times. Twice for petrol. Three times for police. You couldn't do that now. You'd lose your licence about 15 times over.

Yes agree, I would go a bit further south even if it means missing one of your other stops.
