I see many references to Dual Action Polishers in this forum section; is this Ryobi Random Orbital Action Polisher a dual action polisher?

If it is, this product would work for me as I already have kit with this battery system; unless those with more experience would steer me away from the product. What say you?

It’s random orbit but quite big. DAP’s are a bit smaller based on grinders shape. Think pad change and selection may be a bit more awkward. It would be best as a final finish buffer in my opinion.

It’s just for polishing existing paint work so would that suffice or am I showing my detailing ignorance?

For generic “polishing” then fine you’ll not do any harm and give an adequate finish For detailing you would usually cut, refine, finish and wax/seal which is where a dap would be better for more choices of pad. I would assume the riobi will use bonnets as it’s a bigger surface area. For getting a protective coat on the camper say as opposed to chasing a finish then I’d have thought ok. Has it got speed control?

It looks as though it’s single speed:
  • Powerful motor delivers 2,500 opm maintaining optimum performance during extended use
Might need to rethink if this is the right product. 🤔

I have a 3000rpm single speed 10" polisher but it is mains. Does the job for me.& yes it uses bonnets for polishing & similar for cutting/cleaning. Benefit is they go in the washing machine.
