Good Afternoon Netski and Andrew,

The quick answer to your question is, No. There won't be a rally at Ashbourne.

It isn't for the lack of trying but they don't wish to host us.
It's nothing we have done or not done. The Manager was delighted to receive
the umpteen thousand Pounds we gave them but it's all down to 'Big Business'
Please allow me to explain.

Ashbourne Heights Camping and Caravan Park was, once upon a time, exactly that,
a 'Mum and Dad' campsite in the middle of the country.

However, over a period of time, the site was sold on to a conglomorate who
decided to install, first of all, static caravans which over the passage of time, became
holiday homes and ultimately luxury lodges.

Even last year, the site was sold on, yet again, this time to a multi continental Company
who have HQ in America.

They have decided that they want to install yet more lodges and the only place available
for installation (other than the few pitches surrounding the playground) was the pitches
we occupied.

This is where my chrystal ball has come into play.

For the Company to get planning permission to change the use of that field, they would have to
show that it was under used. They could hardly do that if the whole field was occupied on a regular basis
by us lot. So, rather than accept our booking, they are playing the 'Long Game' and creating a necessity
to having more statics.

So, there you have it. They wouldn't take our money. I even offered to double the paltry £6 a night
they wanted for a camping pitch but they said No.

PS. Ashbourne Rally took place immediately before a rally at Bedale, North Yorkshire.

Although the Bedale Rally was a success, Funsters would realise that the logistics of running an
event 400 miles from home makes it a non starter for us.

That wouldn't preclude someone else taking it over. The owner of the site, Ross is very supportive
and would welcome a Fun Rally with open arms.

Dear emmit thank you for the sad explanation very disappointing I got quite excited to see a rally in Derbyshire for once I come from there but like Cornwall where I live rallies are like hens teeth lol. In the meantime I hope you have a very happy and healthy new year which hopefully will be liberally sprinkled with rallies in Derbyshire and Cornwall 😂
