Is it a 180bhp or a 150 bhp

It will only be a chip in the ECU. My Renault Traffic is 125bhp. But the 145bhp is the same engine just different ECU. Remap takes them both to 170bhp
But when looking at the engine photos from Fiat it is totally different.

Hi Alan,
It does say on the V5C 130kw, converted on google = 177 bhp, that still doesn't make it look like the 180 in the picture, I thought for the extra £5500 engine and chassis upgrade, I would be able to tell a difference in performance from the 150 that I took on a test drive, I drove my new motor home all weekend 240 miles and could not tell any difference to be honest.

Thanks Andrew , That's what mine looks like but without the dead fly:D
Euro 6 engines are often very tight until you have done a few miles.
Our Euro 6, 150 was like a dog compared to our last van which was a Euro 5+, 150.
It loosened up after about 5000 miles now going well after 8000 hopefully will be even better by the time it's run in at 15000 miles.

Think it’s very hard just looking at it why not call Fiat and ask them I did when I needed the engine number they were very helpful.
Another question you should have asked me Alan, you don't need the engine number to register a Motorhome. You just put "unknown" in the box.:ROFLMAO:

Alan, what make of motorhome do you have by the way

@k1tch I have also booked an inspection at TH White in Swindon I will keep you updated, keeping fingers crossed but it sounds to me like we have been sold the older 180 engines and not Multijet II.

Yes thanks for that @Lenny HB but they provided it for me so had it put on V5C.
I’m a little concerned now that after all this it’s not the engine I thought but not a big deal other than they actually have put the new engine type on my invoice and feel a bit conned if that’s correct.(y)(y)(y)

Hi we have a Hymer B678DL imported from Germany in the last month.

I have looked all over mine, from above and underneath, it looks nothing like the 180 in the picture, but almost exactly like the 150, maybe Fiat are using the same engine but with a few extras fitted on, but according to another fiat website, it should have a bigger turbo, stronger pistons, different crankshaft, ETC

I was under the impression that the 150bhp and 180bhp engines were in fact physically identical - certainly, when you look at the Hymer catalogue they give 11.5kg weight penalty for an upgrade to either the 150bhp engine or the 180bhp engine. One would assume that physical differences in the 150bhp vs 180bhp engines amounting to strengthening would result in increased weight?

Thanks Alan, I will let you know how I get on, but like you say its not looking to good, a 180 engine upgrade in my opinion is just that an upgrade, not an older 150 chipped up

The new 180 multijet II is quoted as being lighter by Fiat.

Addie
Not if you look at the pictures, they don't look identical to me

And also new engine looks totally different doesn’t it?

If it is a Euro 6 I would think it is a mutijet 2, the multijet 1 was Euro 5+.

View attachment 239897 I Picked this up last Thursday, but this engine thing has kind of taken the edge of it really
I expect the engine is fine you just need to get a few miles on it, will be great once you have done about 8-10,000 miles.
Fiat don't consider the engines run in until they have done 15,000 miles.

Does your paperwork include the date of delivery from Fiat to Adria and other details that show when it was built and on which version Ducato?

Lovely looking MH by the way. :)

Thanks, it is a looker int it, I am waiting for what the dealer called the birth certificate to come back from DVLA, according to some dealer paperwork it was ordered from Adria late October 17

I read a forum thread in 2016 that said the same, I.e. the internals were beefed up a bit to help achieve the extra 30bhp.

That said, I think we all agree that the engine looks nothing like the one on the Fiat site.

It will be interesting to see what comes back from the various inspections.

If you pop under the front of the van then you can soon achieve a rough estimate of your van's build date by all the stickers and labels that Fiat leave on.

My earliest sticker is the 8th Apr 17 and my latest is the 11th May 17.(y) I must have at least 25 different dates under there.

Surely your query is with the supplying dealer, rather than Fiat?
I think you are correct Robert but we need to get the facts about the engine correct and even Fiat Italy could not tell me that, once we have found out what engine is fitted we can either take to dealer or Fiat Italy will pursue it.(y)(y)

fiat claims the new Euro 6 multijet II is more fuel efficient lighter etc.
As far as I’m concerned that’s what I was getting and if not I need to know why and offered some sort of solution!!!

I can only find one sticker on the oil sump February 18

Only one, you can have some of mine:D

Joking aside at least you've got a reasonably accurate date for when your van was built, give or take a week.
