Irish ferries starting Dover-Calais route from June 2021

Lets hope it makes the prices more competitive.

Surprising. I would have thought they would be looking at capacity from Dublin or Rosslaire, or even another Irish port, to link with France rather than try and compete against a route with two established operators, plus the tunnel. It seems to me that perhaps they should have looked at a route slightly different to create a real alternative. There used to be routes from Folkestone and Ramsgate, but I suspect those ports no longer have adequate terminals.

Prices on the UK- Ireland routes are extortionate, so can't see that Irish Ferries would be bringing pricing down on Dover - Calais, especially if they are using a vessel, removed from Pembroke-Rosslaire with facilities designed for 4 hour crossings, now on a 90 minute crossing.

Too late, after Mrs bigtree saw how much it was to do Dover-Calais she booked Brittany Ferries, Plymouth-Santander. Glad it was her that paid for it. o_O
