We both have iphones which we use(d) as hotspots for our laptops, both HP pavillion, when out and about.
Last week we were away and could not use either as a hotspot, kept getting a 'not supported' message on i.phones.
Have gone through all the 'advice' available on line and still no joy, both windows ans iphone updated recently and no idea of which caused the problem.
Fortunately the EE mifi we had with us worked. will be a right pain when we go off to different places, as other than changing phone can't see a way round it.
Android pairs and works ok.

Sorry, can’t help you. We’ve been in Spain since Oct and it works every time. Angela is at this moment watching Coronation St on catchup. (n)

Now you have us confused also, we have an I phone paired to two android devices. Each android device Laptop & notepad discover the I phone as both a bluetooth source and a wi -fi source.
Sounds like one of your devices needs to either recognise the other, or need a code or permission to connect.
One thing we have learned is to make sure the I phone hotspot is turned off when not downloading otherwise "neighbours" from 300 yards away can select it and use it to download:eek:
Makes me ask myself what the hell was wrong with the radio & a good book:)
Good luck
Les

Must be a problem with the iPhone hotspot as far as the pc is concerned you are only connecting to a WiFi TX.
Probably worth changing your SSID & password for the hot spot then the pc will see it as a new connection.

Failing that get an Android phone.:ROFLMAO:

Thanks this has just happened since the last iphone update. Pc can see the iphone, (which connects to my car ok). Have gone throught the 'help' process as shown on line and just keep getting a 'not supported' message on the phone. Have tried reseting network on phone, blue tooth connection is password protected so no one else can use without inputting. I also tend to have both wifi and bluetooth switched off unless I need them. So far have not tried a direct tether, but you need the original iphone lead and mine is in the van. Might have to borrow Johns when he is at golf.
Have an old android phone for same network don't think it takes a micro sim though.
@TinaL Les TV in van is used by me mainly as a radio and kindles are so much lighter;)
