I got my 1987 Hymer fridge running again yesterday after removing the bottom outside grill and cleaning out out the burner, chimney and (flimsy looking) jet.

The (push the red button) sparking system was and still is a bit irratic and it is worrying me as my trip to the Algarve is coming up and I'll need the fridge to work on gas.

Sometimes it sparks but more often it doesn't. Does anyone have any tips or will I have to replace the igniter?

Is it possible to get to get a spare "sparker" and lead for this ancient fridge? It says it is a RM 30 A fridge...

    Thanks...
    JJ

    Hi JJ
Just had a quick search through Ebay and theres loads of spares for Dometic RM series fridges.
Ask the vendors if the parts will fit, a good supplier will know.

    regards...nige

Don't know for certain but is the gap to large, making the spark have to jump too far, had it happen on a spark ing. cooker, worth a try.

    Hi JJ,

We have a member on here who specialises in all things Electrolux/Dometic. pete@ashbridge and he is available at
www.ashbridgedomestic.co.uk - Welcome To Ashbridge Domestic Appliances
He will diagnose and supply the parts next day, especially if you feel competent enough to fit them.

I have personally used his service, and was very pleased with it.

    HTH,

    Jock.
