Spotted this news on Facebook pages & doing a search it looks true so for anyone insured with them maybe check if you still have cover?
One of the articles here https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/workers-made-redundant-deeside-insurance-17696053

Not surprised, they are a bunch of cowboys. Used dodgy underwriters and told lies to policyholders. Read my review if you wish

If no joy from trying the insurer then Steven Muncaster and Sarah Bell, both of Duff & Phelps https://www.duffandphelps.com/our-team , are reported to have been appointed Joint Administrators of Staveley Head today.
If anyone does find out how they stand now please post on one of the threads as it may help others. At the moment lots of chat on FB but nothing sure until confirmed with either insurer or administrator.

As there doesn't seem to be any formal statement yet as to whether policies are still valid I've emailed the administrators Duff & Phelps & Money Saving Expert website to get the facts - don't know if it'll help or get a response quickly enough but worth a try. In the meantime if anyone has any updates then please post - it doesn't affect us personally but sure there will be quite a few Funsters who are concerned at the moment.

I contacted the receivers office yesterday, and the person in charge this morning, but they have not got back to me yet.

Wouldn't have known about this if it wasn't for the forum, just emailed Gefion Insurance and got an auto-response reply, waiting now with bated breath!

who do you contact if you have a claim?

who do you contact if you have a claim?

I would suggest directly to the Underwriting Company because it is their appointed agent which has gone into administration, and the Underwriters have the contractual responsibility to the insured.

If they have arranged for the Administrators to take over claims handling as their agents they will tell you, but I think that unlikely as that function may be outside their skills.

Geoff

Aren't they just the brokers? Your policy is with the underwriters.

A little heads up for some of you.
I've just come to cancel my motorhome insurance policy due to selling the motorhome to find out Staveley Head have gone into administration.

Ahh I missed that yesterday, thanks Wombles.

According to the Staveley Head website:

Steven Muncaster and Sarah Bell were appointed Joint Administrators of Staveley Head Limited (“the company”) on 5 February 2020.

All queries relating to individual policies should be directed to 03333 707 777.

The company is continuing to trade whilst a purchaser for the business is sought.

The reply from Gefion Insurance was:

Thank you for your query.

We have been in contact with the administrators of Staveley Head Limited and we have been informed by the administrators that policy administration and claims handling will continue as is.

Please direct any queries to the administrators. Please see www.staveleyhead.co.uk for more information and contact details.

Med venlig hilsen / Best regards

Thank you Axeman - good to see the statement (even if a little tucked away at the bottom of the main Staveley Head web page) is on there now. Know that the last couple of days have been very worrying for some of those affected.

I wish companies were not described as 'Insurers' when they are in fact 'Brokers' or agents.

It makes people think they are the 'Insurance Underwriters' unless people read the small print where it states 'This policy is underwriten by ......'

This is why some people got nervous at this news.

They should be described as 'Insurance Brokers'

Most Insurance brokers could not underwrite a policy if they wanted to as they simply do not have the Capital Requirements needed, nor the qualifications.
