thinking of just insuring my MH just for theft as it looks highly unlikely we will be able to use it for quite a while one of the reasons for this is that comfort have increased my payments by £60 to £430 now I am thinking highly unlikely to use abroad during this current crisis also unlikely to be allowed to use it in this country I am one of those on a 12 week lock down to start with. what do the rest of you think (y)

I switched to caravan guard from Safeguard due to a big increase in cost and whilst talking to caravan guard transpires that I could remove eu cover and breakdown cost and just have UK breakdown. As we were not sure of our plans this year, from early March, I opted for the latter. I can add the eu cover with breakdown if I need it later, same cost but an admin fee of £15 which I thought worthwhile. Glad I did it now. (y)

I was under the impression that 3rd party insurance was as much as fully comp. but don’t know if that is still the case. You can only find out by asking.

How much would it save?
still looking into it MJ getting answers form anyone at the moment is proving difficult ask the house insurance if it could be added to belongings waiting for a reply depends on their underwriters also waiting on some other companies to reply, Not a popular ask obviously;)(y)

Try LV. I got a cracking price from them with good cover. No breakdown cover but never the less a comprehensive policy.

We will continue to keep the m/h fully covered but, as our annual multi trip health insurance policy runs out next week we won’t be renewing that at present. Not going anywhere. :(

just been told by one insurance agent I asked about medical insurance which is due in June quote"good luck with that we are not doing any this year and many companies have also pulled out " glad I was only inquiring

There are Companies which will do "fire and theft" only cover. Used by "classic" car owners who Lay their cars up during winter. But you will have to shop around, and whether they will cover "modern" vehicles?. The other thing is that sometimes the difference in cost is only marginal.

I won`t be doing it as I intend to use mine, even if only for the "big Shop" every few weeks. Unless you "lay up" properly, the vehicle deteriorates more rapidly than when used.

Did our van today, apart from the odd run out, it's only used about 5 months a year normally, so thinking positive ? onwards and upwards ? we are ready to go. ? Bob.

Need to do ours as it is partly on the pavement although our pavement still has six foot to the road.
Before anyone tells me off I have a cone each side of it and Police have told me that I am not causing an obstruction.?

A good number of years ago I asked for a 3rd party, fire and theft quote on a car, and it came back MORE expensive than fully Comp.

Th explanation from the broker was that Insurance companies flagged these policies with a red flag as they, statistically, were at a higher risk due to people insuring at the lowest cost and then magically having their vehicles go up in flames!

That has been the case ever since I started working in the insurance industry in April 1967!

I shall give mine a decent run every few weeks. Better to give it a run than save a couple of quid.BUSBY.

Proper "layup" is more that just parking it and keeping the battery(s) charged. As Mr Cain might have said "Not a lot of people appreciate that". At the extreme end. There are folk who go as far as putting the vehicle in a DRY-Air pressurised bubble bag. Besides, If I use it for the "Big Shop" every few weeks, I have hand washing (and toilet) facilities on hand, And a small "detour" gets me to a quiet car park near the beach, where we can enjoy the fresh air, exercise the dog, and even make tea/coffee, with no social contact beyond the Supermarket itself. Which will help with potential mental stress issues.

I have this decision to make in a few weeks time, my road tax is due on the 1st May, insurance due on the 5th May and MOT due on the 15th May, at the minute haven't a clue what I will do.

Third party insurance is often more expensive than fully comprehensive as those who have this 'lower' type of policy are apparently more 'risky', think about if ... if people value their vehicles they are more likely to want to repair them and keep them in good condition and have fully comp insurance than someone who doesn't care. Don't forget to ask the costs for admin etc if you do change your policy details etc as, even if for some reason you were able to save money compared to your existing policy, by the time you've added in the fees it could well end up costing more for less cover!
