Hi I am looking to get a quote for my moterhome and I am going to have a car on a frame
They say the car will be insurance for third party only when being towed

I have the car full comp separate insurance but once hooked on what happens is a crash with the towcar
What insurance cover what

Once hooked up it becomes a trailer. Very carefully read all small print on any insurance relating to the car.

A good few years ago I tried thrashing this one out for a funster for whom I had fitted a full American Blue Ox system on his Jeep Comander he towed with an RV.
We thought we were getting somewhere after rejecting there suggestion that max payout woul be the policies trailer limit circa £3000
And opted instead for an agreed value for the "Trailer" ie Jeep, of 17K all was going well and a premium agreed untill it was pointed out Jeep Comander was not in the approved list of trailers along side Bryan James, Batson etc full circle they would not cover it, it's own full comp policy said when being towed it would be trailer maximum payout if it was wrote off
Be Warned read all conditions and terms, assume nothing
I dont tow anything much over 3k worth for that very reason.
NFU were doing what they called a combined policy but when you ran a nit comb through it it was virtually the same.
I should also add that cars on trailers may not be covered as one would hope either and should be looked into very carefully.
1. MoHo covered F Comp
2. Tow Car F Comp
3. When fully loaded Goods in Transit cover may be reqd for the tow car when towed on trailer.
I wont enter into a debate about this.
If you believe you have got it all covered good luck.
With insurances if you havent asked the right question in the right way they are not bound to point out your errors.
