Hi all,

I know that this has probably been asked before, likely on several occasions as I know others must have been in the same situation at one time or another.

So... as some of you may recall, we ordered our new Chausson 711 last August with all the whistles and bells. It arrived at the dealer on the very day of the lockdown so we couldn’t even get to see it. Boo.hoo...

Well the good news is that after waiting for what seems like an eternity we can finally collect it when ever we are ready so Yipeee to that one.

My problem is the insurance Catch 22.

I‘m told that I need an alarm and tracker before I can get it insured, and to be honest, this is the very least of the intended security.
I have an appointment booked in with Eddie, however I’m stuck as I intend to have the Shadow VTS Installed alongside the Growler and none starter etc.

I really don’t want to spend daft Money on a dealer fit tracker, just to get insured, when the Vanbitz Shadow VTS system is so superior, highly recommended and heavily discounted in conjunction with MHF and Growler etc.

So to cut a long story short, can any recommend an insurance company who may have a bit of flexibility when informed of my intentions? All my paperwork came through today from Vanbitz so proving it’s not a blag isn’t an issue.

I’m sure Eddie would happily confirm to the insurance company my appointment too if need be, being such a nice bloke.

I could just pay for storage at my dealer and collect the day before the installation, but I’d still need insurance to drive it to Taunton the day before my install. so catch 22.

(plus I really want to take her for a drive to see how the new 9 speed auto performs on a good run and have a pretend holiday on the driveway)

Please help if you have any advice. What I want to avoid is calling every company I can think of to go through all my details again and again. 2 or 3 times maybe, but you know how it is calling insurance firms...

Thanks ladies and gents As always your help is gratefully received.

most insurances will give you cover for 30 days to have the alarm etc fitted. certainly Comfort Ins did that for me which allowed me to get to eddievanbitz place and sorted.

many many years! since I was a kid
another recommendation for NFU, who are far more sensible about alarms and trackers and more to the point excellent to deal with before and after any claim

with NFU sometimes you need to speak to a different branch if they knock you back. They are basically franchised and not all specialise in motorhomes

If you tell comfort it is a recommendation you will get an additional discount When I bought my Van last year phoned from the sellers home (I had the quote) when she asked why I used them said the previous owners were with them and straight away she said she would give me an additional discount I was very happy I think it was around £50.00
Good luck

Well, update on the above.

First of all, below is a big thank you to everyone who helped.

For anyone who may be ready to insure or renew,

NFU wher coming in at just shy of £600
Caravan Guard where coming in at £475

I didn’t try Safeguard as I’d had enough of repeating myself so in the end I went with Comfort

Great deal at £265 with Comfort including fully comprehensive, European cover, business use so I can take it to work if I ever want a quick getaway, Loads of discounts added due to intended Vanbitz systems, and storage at a gold site etc and it comes with with 2 weeks grace In order to get the alarms, tracker and none starter fitted.
I could have had a further 5% discount if someone had recommended them to me, as Nanniemate pointed out, but they needed the postcode of the person who recommended them to me.

All in all happy bunny. Roll on collection day and a nice weekend away in Taunton.
