I'm a newbie
I have been looking at various motorhome and have found a really nice one that has recently been refurbished. The downside to this refurb is they have removed the forward and rear facing dining area and has 2 long side facing seats that fold down into a large double bed. There is now no belted passenger seats in the rear. So my question is, would it be possible to remove the single fron passenger seat and replace this with a double belted front seat. The motorhome is based on a 1996 fiat ducato

You will have a single passenger seat to find
Rear furniture to replace
Plus if i read correctly rear seats were belted
I am assuming the iron work for the belts
Was removed as well

Your costs are raking up
And original condition van would be better purchase

Than replicating the original features
In my opinion

And excuse my ignorance in not saying before
may i welcome you to the forum

I don't see any need to touch the back of the van at all. I want to remove the front passenger seat and replace this with a double seat. So there are now 3 travelling seats in the front. This easily done with modern fiat ducato vans. The question is, can it be done with a 1996 model.

Don’t know about the seats in the year of your van but certainly on the 2006 onwards version it’s very easy as the double seat shares the same fixings as the single. Any double would also come with a integral seat belt for the middle seat. Might be worth checking out a scrapyard for one as they can be reupholstered.

Glad you have an understanding of what I meant.

Just need to find out if the 1996 version is as easy

Just been looking on eBay and came across a double seat for a 1996 Fiat Ducato and it looks like it has the same principle of the middle seat being cantilevered out from single seat fixings. I would say that it will be okay to do. You would have to make sure that any seat had its seatbelt intact for the middle seat.
If you do it you would also need to change the V5 and tell you insurance company.
