Induction kit

I have heard of induction hobbs and I know induction is an important electrical property but I have no idea what it means in respect of engine performance. I look forward to being educated on the topic.

Watching with interest as I was thinking of trying on my 2.5tdi.
Could take lid off big circular air filter box and there is a 19cm protrusion at the bottom where I could fit appropriate flexible pipe and route up and over the box and fix the cone filter in the large void behind the front nearside head lamp.
Didn't want to delete the box as there are other pipes with sensors from it?

Anyone tryed fitting the above on a 2.8jtd 2004 fiat M/H if so did it help performance any and was it easy to fit
I had a full vortex exhaust fitted on a 2.8jtd It improved the power noticeably on the first split second you hit the accelerator and I could keep 5th gear even on hills. It also gave me around a 10 to 12% improvement on economy and was quieter in the cab. Expensive but worth doing.

Sounds interesting Jezport, what do you call expensive? ?

I thought the benefit of induction kits was best suited to petrol engines as airbox restrictions limited power, however they offered limited benefits in Diesel engines, as combustion is limited by fuel rail pressure (rather than airflow)?

Induction kits are more or less pointless on a diesel , getting the gasses out (exhaust systems) and more efficient intercoolers and tuning chips are the best options IMO

I use mine with the vortex system which helps the dynamic's improve to the extra warp dimension of speed. I tried this out with the reflux capacitor, but not quite the same, a half second lag was noted and logged.

<Broken link removed>
that is a link to an exhaust system.
the OP was looking at an induction kit.

I saw the episode of Wheeler Dealers where Ed China and Ed Brewer with a Vortex exhaust on an v8 AC cobra replica they were putting through a IVA - and it just passed the emissions and noise with the Vortex system. looked a smart and tech bit of kit.

That's the one, had it on my last van. Better than messing with an induction kit

spend the money on getting the van serviced and running spot on rather than an induction kit

if you just want the noise of a kit then you will need to swap to metal pipes as the rubber ones will soften the noise
you wont 'need' an induction kit until you have upped the injectors, fitted a chargecooler and bolted on a hybrid turbo

increasing air pressure on the diesel engine will gain nothing unlike a big petrol one
