Looking at importing a used motorhome from the EU and understand that I have to pay 20% vat on the motorhome price + duty but no-one even after 3 phone calls to HMRC can tell me what the duty is!
The spotty oiks I’ve managed to contact on the hmrc “no helpline” keep referring me to the website which I can’t make head nor tail of!
Has anyone imported a used motorhome since brexit to give me a clue what the duty is?
Alex ( somewhat confused 64 year old)

I assume that it is now the same as an import from any other country (before Brexit it was £50) so I think its 10% plus the paperwork. The debate will be over the value to apply the 10% to.

Better getting from a dealer now unless you find a real private bargain

The dealer will usually have a price with or without vat.
