*Important* Dometic fridge recall

Certain fridge/freezer units fitted to m/homes Jan 2004 to August 2007

RM 7601, 7651, 7655, 7801, 7805, 7851, 7855, RMT 7651, 7655, 7851, 7855.

Serial No's affected 401xxxxx to 734xxxxx

Fridge must not be used on gas until it has been checked. MORE IMPORTANTLY you must turn off the gas to the unit (red knob)

Model and serial No can be found on a sticker inside fridge.

Just found out via a sarcastic response on the dark side that this is well known . We were informed by Beck's who we bought our van from just yesterday. Wonder how long they've known?

I would have been none the wiser had I not been made aware by jolly Roger of a motorhome his friend has just bought.It had had a fire in the back of the fridge a dometic but a 2009 model.
This got us looking at google and so came across the dometic recall list.
I checked mine a dometic fridge/freezer Model RM7655L s/n 45000004 .
Gave a call this morning to dometic and mentioned the recall,she told me mine was confirmed as one that had to be checked gave me an e-mail address to contact customer services customerservices@dometic.co.uk
I gave them the model number and serial number together with some photos of the inside of the unit with the vent removed .
Recieved a reply later to say "Your fridge does need the recall work.
Please can you confirm you address and we will find a workshop that can add the clips."
So a reminder to all who have this fridge to check with dometic if necessary

Follow on to that about being complacent the mate who bought the damaged camper ,his dad has a 2005 Rapido owned since new and totally oblivious as to the recall ,passed on the info gleaned on the net and checked this morning .Guess what ? Yep it is also one that has "slipped" through the net .opinion is the manufacturers / suppliers aren't going to contact you . .
So IS yours safe ?

Thanks for the heads up.
Contacted Dometic yesterday and they got back to me this afternoon.
Fortunately mine one is newer than the recall models.
Better safe than sorry.

Just as an update,mine had work done under the recall system by a local technician martin edwards from MRE services .Very professional job and I would recommend him to anyone local who needs work on their fridge etc.
The pic shows the 2 clamps that were needed to stop movement in the tube.He also replaced under the same scheme the new gas pipe underneath with new temp senser and piezo electrics.

Is that the 2 riveted straps ? if so mines been updated so thats 1 thing I need not worry about. I am going to take the temprature control apart in next few days see what i can find fridge is working fine just at full though.

yes 2 pop rivets I believe.The other pipe was replaced as there was evidence of "flash back".I had to wait for this part as it was an extra not expected as part of the recall scheme,but something that Martin found when checking it over.
