Morning all
I'm going to fit my snipe 2 satellite today and just wondered if anyone could give me some info regarding the wire from the ignition that will close the dish if the van ignition is turned on.
I understand that the brown is the live power feed, the black the neutral and the yellow wire is from the ignition, could anybody tell me how the yellow cable gets connected.
Thanks
Dave

You need to choose a supply that only becomes 'live' when the ignition is turned on. Possibly the simplest supply available will be a dashboard cigar lighter socket that only works with the ignition on. Connect to the rear of the socket. The yellow supply will draw a very low current as it is only a sensing wire so a low value fuse in the yellow wire near the cigar lighter socket connection is the only additional 'complication'. If the Snipe instructions don't mention a value use a 5A fuse.

Thanks for the reply @tonyidle
The cables shown in the photo are factory fitted so I'm guessing it's already connected to the ignition and somehow needs connecting to the snipe??

Any update on this? Where do the cables come from to begin with and where do they get wired to?

I don't think the Snipe 2 has an ignition feed but has the provision to self fold down if the vehicle travels above a certain speed and the Snipe still has its power feed on.

Yes, unless it has been upgraded, my Snipe2 doesn't have an ignition feed. Instead I keep it permanently wired direct to the leisure battery - that way if there is power then dish will fold down if you forget to do it when you go over about 20mph...

When I fitted my Snipe Pro Max I got a ignition feed from a spare wire under the drivers seat 2016 Ducato X290

How does the dish know if the van is moving at this speed? I'm curious

As the dish has a GPS sensor to find its location I presume it can measure the speed in the same way as the satnav does.

Another option is as the Snipe closes down to the home position if you power it off then back on again. You could fit an interval timed relay which turns the power off then back on after a few seconds. For this to work you must remember to leave the Snipe powered up.

My Snipe pro max used to put its self down if there was a sustained high wind around 45 to 50 mph so I guess there must be some sort of strain gauge built in
