I promised myself that when I had a moment....

I promised myself that when I had a moment, I would sort out my collection of screws. Separate the countersunk from the cheese headed screws, Done that..... this lockdown does funny things to your mind :roflmto:
Now you've got to organise them by size ....

I’m cracking on with my workshop. Here is a photo before I started and in a couple of weeks will post another of it finished!

I go to work, come home, go to work, come home and so on

Maybe when lockdown finishes I may get a minute to sort my screws out.
Ditto, busier now than before lockdown as everyone postponed mots and work on their vehicles.

I found another box for the overflow screws just so I can shut the lid. I'll sort them one day

Hi.
Over the last twenty years or so,i have been tempted to do that.......On monday,i went into do this, tipped everything out on the bench, counterskunk, Ffillipses etc. There were a lot of them,so i sorted out all those that had seen previous service, were rusty and found a few that were ( not quite straight..?..) Chucked the Not quite straight ones away, shoveled the rest and rusty back in the old " Soap Powder tins " ( YES,every thing gets... Upcycled :groan:) and put them back under the bench. Next job ?....Don't hold your breath,i have a .....5 year plan.

Wife sorted out my screws I can't find anything now. She didn't understand the difference between zinc plated, brass, stainless steel etc. And self tappers, wood screws, machine screws, cheese head, cks, pan head, socket cap etc.

Nirvanauk I like the cash register
It was made especially for me, I was working for NCR (National Cash Registers)in Bermuda in 1984 and that was their Centenary. We were initially quoted around $400 each but they were made in Brasil so costs and delivery almost doubled!! I have a certificate of authenticity for it and and once my workshop is sorted then its my next project and will sit next to my PC in the study. I have even bought a Dremel to polish it with!!!

Think a lot of us are the same, I've got the cleanest tools, polished even.
Screws, nut, bolts etc all boxed with labels! Note to self, must get out more.

Good for her, you hadn't rearranged where she kept stuff in the kitchen by any chance ;) ;) John has been tidying out his garage, took a cylindrical vac to the tip ashe couldn't find the main head for it. insisted I had it somewhere. Two days after dumping it he found it sitting on a shelf.
FYI I do not have keys to the garage, could have gone to someone in need wasreally miffed

I only let her in the kitchen to do the washing up.

I'll look forward to seeing it, perhaps it'll give me the incentive to tackle mine. I go in there everyday with the best intentions only to be waylaid by something that grabs my eye.

I made a determined effort to move the none workshop junk into the shed. It was fairly successful unless you look below knee hight. My back and hip were playing up at the time so I couldn’t move any thing too low dow that was heavy.
I have two large drawers in the workshop. One for screws and other fasteners including wall plug things. The other is domestic electrical repair things. Soldering irons and multimeters. Under the bench is my late father in laws screw box. He used to take screws out of scrap wood he found. There’s a good selection of brass screws mostly slot head. He didn’t like Philips head screws.
My workshop is sorted to my needs. If I need its somewhere in there.
When our confinement is over our son is going to come and take his share of the junk in the shed.

I must confess ive never heard of a cheese head before, is it the same as a cross head?

A cheese head screw is the shape of a round cheese. Flat topped with a slot rather than cross head.
You are in the realms of engineering screws along with dome head, socket head, hex head etc.
