Since 1964 Gosh that makes me feel old.
Wild camped over at Stinchar Falls last night, the weather was atrocious but, I wonder if anyone else likes listening to the wind & rain battering on the motorhome?
I didn't have the dogs with me so there was no need to get out of the motorhome at any time.
The rain stopped at about 10pm but, the weather wasn't finished with us yet, during the night the wind got up & started making a racket in the tree's.
The rain was unbelievably heavy too.
I doubt if I'm alone in loving being in the moho when the weather is like this?

The Stinchar Falls car park was deserted which I also like but, the river was already well up when I arrived, now the video below shows what the Falls were like when I left to go home.
The weather was fine & bright by then.

Aren't motorhomes a wonderful ticket to freedom of the mind & the soul?

Makes me feel smug when I’ve checked the weather and know it’s coming as I look out at the other campers who have left out their camping gear, towels on guy ropes etc.
Gave up on tent camping years ago after waking up at 4 in the morning in Scotland on a wet windy site miles away from civilisation as I’d slept up against the tent and my air bed had gone down.

Know where you're coming from. And not just in motorhomes. Remember a magically cosy feeling in a very small and remote cottage in Scotland with the elements doing their worst when the only thing we could pick up was long-wave radio.

You like to hear the rain eh, this was my brand new caravan first time out July 2004, hail stone like golf balls bombarded the site in La Roche, ended up with new offside, new roof and new rear panel.

Can't see the pics :(

Screwed them photos up, try again

The locals called the storm l’orage, a whole avenue of poplar trees were all snapped off halfway up their trunks

I quite like it as I can compare it as being much more secure than in the same conditions on a boat for 30 years, wondering if our 2 anchors are going to hold, or if the next boat's one anchor will hold, because he dropped in the wrong direction and too short.

I would still prefer to park head to forecast wind to avoid too much buffetting/rolling. [Wonder what wardens would say if one claimed security reasons - not my problem if we are miles away]

I don't mind it after I've gone to bed, but when it really chucks it down when watching a film, not so much, can't hear a thing even with the volume turned up full.
