Up date folks, they said 3-4 weeks for sample but a couple of weeks ago they had a major tool outage so I expect with the small quantity I want I'm at the bottom of the queue.
Also I'm away for 4 weeks now, with the Fun mobsters at Stratford at the moment.
No worries Lenny just let me know when you have a firm price and I will settle up as soon as you need any funds😊

Back home yesterday and the sample hinges were waiting for me.
Fitted them to a garage door today the material is 0.7mm thinner than the plastic hinges doesn't appear to cause any problems with the fit of the door. The gap between frame and door varies by nearly 3 mm with the standard hinges.
I will try them on the hab door tomorrow.

They look ok but the countersunk could be more uniform…👍🏼

Could it cause water ingress issues with the tightness of the door not been as original hinge thickness?
I was looking at having packing plates made to fit behind the hinge but after fitting them the gap around the door is the same. Also there are inner & outer seals.
Can't make them out of thicker material as it would make the knuckle diameter too large.

I don’t think .07 mm will be anything to worry about and they will look even better in stainless😊
well done Lenny it’s progressing nicely👍😊

Too windy to fit them to the hab door today.
I have the garage doors a water test with the hose. The door with the standard hinges & the one with the steel hinges results identical. Both has a few drops of water past the first seal, and garage watertight. Looks like the first seal is really just a gap filler to cut down on wind noise the inner seal is the water tight seal.
So all good.
