The habitation door hinges seemingly made of a plastic compound are showing signs of wear, as yet it is not causing problems nor has it caused the door to drop, but is very concerning on a van barely 4 years old. My dealer has submitted photographs to Team 3 at Hymer asking for advice. Van is a 2017 B588DL so the question have any other members had any issues with these hinges or showing this sort of wear.
if your monitoring this thread Lenny and are up to it I would appreciate your views.
Photo 1 is the upper hinge the gaps are very evident as in photo 2 which is the lower hinge. Photo 3 is lower hinge in closed position.
Photos 4 & 5 hinges from a friends 2016 D588DL for comparison and the gaps are very small,

Hi Stewart, mine look similar to yours from the outside with the door closed they look OK. Our van is 3½ years old. No movement up or down on the door.
Had a look at the garage door ones no gaps on those.
Depending on what stupid price Hymer charge for the hinges, looks easy enough to change.

We are back in the UK now, spending night at BIL not far from tunnel I'm a bit knackered today.

Thanks mate you take care of yourself. Will update thread when I hear from my dealer, not a good look though as an engineer I do question the use of plastic hinges on such a heavy door,

many many years! since I was a kid
at least with the old version, you could strip and rebuild them with new washers

Looking at the hinges, It looks like there is a T shaped plug of some kind at the bottom (in Lenny's 2nd picture) so it may be possible to extract the pin and insert washers. After all, the hinge needed to be assembled in the factory so presumably, disassembly will be the reverse.
If it is possible to extract the pin, I would use Nylon washers as these will be hard wearing with less wear against the hinge itself compared to using metal washers.

I'd use stainless. The type of plastic used for the hinges is quite abrasive and a hard washer will prevent wear.

Door does not seem to have dropped though I will keep an eye on them and if needed fit some roller washers that are used on ball bearing door hinges

On my 2012 B585 Starline there's 2 substantial aluminium hinges on the habitation door and both garage doors.

As long as the bearing part of the hinge leaf doesn’t look worn which I don’t think any do I wouldn’t worry.
All the gaps are at the top of them and no wear on underside edge.👍😊

But does that suggest they have worn and dropped. The weight of the door would cause that also the wear has got to be at the bottom as no weight on the top of the joint.
The way the doors fit with quite a large gap I can't see it being a problem for quite a few years.
Not a good design though.

Look closely at my first two photos the gaps are above and below, there is no bearing surface!

If you look closely at Stewart’s hinges on the door there does look like a sign of wear there is like an L shaped whiteish mark at the bottom of each leaf.
Strange it hasn’t dropped though I suppose not enough to jam door but could let water in over the top seals.🤔
