As per the title - assuming not exceeding total weights etc., can you? (Please no debate regarding general A Frame rights/wrongs and legalities.. (y))

Thanks

I would say probably not - most if not all have automatic gearboxes (possibly two of them) and that would be the issue. Also, my MG HS has so many safety features I don't think it's brain could cope with it moving with no-one sat in it holding the steering wheel.

So seems like if you wish to continue to tow with an A Frame it rules out an EV or a hybrid.

Best make sure I get a reasonably new, petrol engined replacement tow car just before the before 2030 deadline.. (y)

We have a PHEV. Definitely do NOT tow. 4 wheels off the ground only, so use a trailer. The damage that can be done to the motors is total.

Some of the A Frame companies sell already converted cars

I already have a tow car on an A Frame, but it wont last until 2029... so I think I will purchase a replacement newish car around that time and get it converted - it should then last until I pop my clogs or give up motorhoming. (y)

With the increase in hybrids and EV's, the breakdown companies will need a rethink.
An EV broke down just as it left my son's estate, half-way across the "nearside" lane (it wanted to turn right onto the main road). It was immobile for at least 3 hours, with traffic having difficulty getting round it on the main road and also trying to leave the estate in both directions. He offered the driver a cup of tea but got fed up of waiting to see how it was going to be moved.

I wonder what the A-frame companies are gonna do?
