How to delete photo's?

I like the new photo upload facility but can someone tell me how to delete photo's please? I was experimenting a few minutes ago with some random photo's but I would prefer to be more selective.

I hovered over an album thumbnail and a small tick box appeared in the top left corner, I ticked this and a menu popped up, then I selected 'delete' and followed the menu from there. it's not very intuitive but I'm sure it will improve

Chockswahey, will you try again and see if it still works please. My whole media page has changed. The little box in top corner is there but nothing happens when I click it and also the photos are really small and I cannot open them or see the info .. eg.. viewings or comments .... Don't know if it just my settings changed or is it everyone's please.
