Hi all,
I'm looking at buying my first motorhome on a limited budget. My big dilemma is over how old a vehicle to pursue... Particularly in relation to the diesel emissions...
If I was to purchase an old van... Like 1990 ish.... How long before diesels of that age are no longer allowed on the road? Would I be throwing my money away as the vehicle is likely to be worth next to nothing if (when) emmusion standards are tightened....
Dillemmas....!
Thanks for any input.

At that age it's the condition of the body, I'm thinking of dampness. Have a look at the post by Scandude, another newbie. Hello and welcome as well.

Hi Huey. welcome...Dont fret about the age! If you are looking at a 1990 truck...concern yourself over its "Health" . By that mechanics and water ingress Cam belts etc. The diesel issue will always be around for some time yet. Im guessing here but...Personally...Im more likely to grow feathers !!

There is time .....Enjoy the future! Whilst we can!!

If diesel is an issue, there are plenty of older vans with petrol engines in them. Fuel economy might suffer a little but they will have a bit more oomph!

it depends on your budget, there are bargains about under £10k, like one in the classifieds today. £9k for a 1998 van in good condition. older vans are out there for nearly the same price but its getting hard to source some parts
