Lifelong Camper turned Campervanner 👍🚌🤗
Forgiveness required if I'm in the wrong section. 🙈

I've just priced up for us as a family to go to Camp Quirky, to meet up with friends.

For two nights, I repeat for two nights...2 X adults, 3 X boys, the van it's coming in at £234...😲 daren't even mention the 🐈‍⬛

That's before even putting diesel in.

Now I'm just picking myself off the floor and really holding back on the expletives, but what the actual do you get (For anyone that has been) for that amount.

Shoot me down if you think I'm being a Scrooge but in my honest opinion that is just ridiculous.

Thoughts please.

I don’t know what a Camp Quirky is.
but that’s A bit high I would have thought.

guess there counting on a captive audience. Now other countries are closing boarders.

Its like anything else they quoted the price you decide if you want to pay it!. If enough people think it's too much the price will come down ( and possibly the quality/facilities). Whats a real ripp off is a cheap lead in price and lots of hidden extras that are difficult if not impossible to avoid like booking fees

"Camp Quirky is an opportunity to meet new friends who share your passions.

There are workshops and talks aplenty, music to fill your ears and beautiful stalls for you to peruse. And of course lots and lots of campervans."

Workshops are related to self build, also on the promo video "not a lot of people get dunk".

So not much for your hard earned groats.

cheers
Red.

It seems to be a bit like Camp Bestival in Dorset but for camper van people. Camp Bestival is expensive as well, but my grandsons loved it when they were little; Dad and Mum could afford the astronomical cost of it all but the original organisers of the event went bust owing mega bucks!

Obviously high demand, so perhaps as far as the organisers are concerned... priced about right 🤷‍♂️...

"Camp Quirky Tickets ... The 2021 event sold out within 48 hours."

You maybe only staying two nights but perhaps the tickets allow you to stay Friday - Monday?

  1. No generators
  2. No drones
  3. No sound systems
  4. No illegal substances
  5. No fireworks
  6. Strict Speed limit of 5MPH at all times
Quirky Campsite rule (numerous others for dogs, no glass bottles on site) Not sure how they expect the catering vans, shows and music to be played? Don't think two solar arrays will cut it?
NOT FOR US

I loathe the policy when they charge ridiculous amounts for pets!

I emailed a "dogs welcome" place the other week to ask what service exactly am I getting in return. As a solo traveller Im already losing out because the van charge per night included two adults, (so half the demand on the actual resources I pay for like showers, electric and other facilities), but then on top the were charging £7 per night!! for my 2 dogs (and there wasnt even an area to walk them on site or nearby, in fact it made it very clear they were not allowed basically anywhere except for in my own van).

I get it that if we stay in rented accommodation there are extra costs associated with extra cleaning following the stay, but in MY OWN VAN?! Are they going to come and clean my van daily for that price?

I suggested that for that price they had better be picking up the poop for me since they got nothing else for the charge! and that I'd book elsewhere based on that principle alone.
If a site doesnt want dogs, thats absolutely fine, (many might welcome that) but stating dogs welcome and then offering absolutely nothing in return is taking the P.
Unsurprisingly, they refrained from replying or trying to justify it.

So I spent my money elsewhere, I'm currently paying £4.95 per night (no, thats not a typo!), including me, my 2 dogs, 16amp EHU, hard standing, showers, toilets, elsan, washing machines, on site hot food vans, metres from the beach and easy access to a variety of local supermarkets (think it includes WiFi too but i dont use it).
Oh and its a brilliant site, all the staff make a fuss of the dogs and always have treats to hand too. Fantastic variety of walks as well. They love the site as much as I do!

So which site is that please ?

Some folk have more money than sense, definitely not for me and if folk stop paying out stupid amounts then the companies will either lower their prices or go out of business. Supply and demand sadly is determined by ourselves.

Looks like it's for the van hire.

I've just booked carfest South for 3 nights , £600, you're not just paying for a pitch and use of the toilets , you're also paying for the entertainment , don't want the entertainment I'm.sure there are plenty of places within 10 miles for £30 a night

Carfest is peak season , try renting a static caravan for a week during the school holidays , you'll be lucky so see change out of £1200 , £234 with live music and workshops doesn't seem extortion to me

Sounds great. But where is it??

600 pound for three night you mad
depends if you like cars and live music or getting 3 cups of tea out of that teabag while looking out of the window , £100 per night each for 3 full days of entertainment and a pitch sounds OK to me , most live bands are £60 a ticket each for a 2 hour show

Thanks guys for all the comments, I can see prices vary from venue to venue.

I think we was spoilt with the value of the Vanlife Eats and Adventure Overland shows this year.

I fully appreciate the logistics of holding events and the organisation and administration involved and that these costs have to be fully recovered.

It seems that the costings are average but it will still pain me to part with £400 for two nights. 😬😬

Well you are paying £1200 a week pro rata except your supplying the accomodation too....!

From someone who lives in Rochester ?:xsmile::xdoh::unsure:
I will have you know I may have lived in Rochester for over 40 years but I hail from a rough council estate in Chatham, so I now consider myself posh, thank you very much:xrofl:

Just had a look as I fancy this but it’s not selling any tickets until next year, where did you buy from ?

You obviously don't get it, £100 a night each with 3 days entertainment to watch headline artists perform plus all the daytime entertainment isn't expensive

The first lot were on their website about a month ago , I registered last year , got an email which I saw at 8:50am telling me they were on sale at 9am
The motorhome camping spots go pretty quick , especially as they've got EHU this year.
I'd see if there's still an option to sign up to get the email

It’s still showing camping so will have to wait until they release some more next year.

Thanks.

It’s a similar price to an event I always try to work. Big Feastival near chipping norton. I seem to remember tickets are around £200 per person then the camping pitches on top of that.
Again big name acts, Rag & Bone Man, Ella Eyre, Paloma Faith, Lewis Capaldi to name a few. Loads of great food stands. A very good family orientated festival.
Not a good place for the tight ones though, nothing is cheap.

Some folk can tell you the cost of everything, but the value of nothing.

I prefer the extortionate prices as it keeps the council estate riff raff out:xrofl:;)
May be not as they do everything for cash so more loaded than the rest of us lol

The cost of camping at Goodwood Revival shocked me when I looked
