Newbie John here again. Have now booked to go away on the Inaugural trip of 'Bert', our Burstner Nexxo. Question I have may sound really daft but , How do I go about christening the Thetford C200 toilet correctly? (Yes am of a certain age, and have been 'house-trained@ to even close the lid when finished!

Aldi Washing tablet and a little water.

Always open flap. Why? I hear you ask. It went like this......

Very much toilet cassette beginner

Took out cassette

Emptied as usual, meeting a very nice chap at the communal toilet emptying men's club

Put cassette back in

Everything fine so far

Forgot about it and went out

Came back desperate to go

Forgot to open flap

Finished number 1 (Thank God!!)

Opened flap

Whoooosh!

Cleaned face and changed T shirt.

Somehow sliding the cassette back in caused a pressure (possibly fed by the chemicals added) and there was no escape for this pressure other than upwards and out of the bowl.

School of life lesson - Always, always open and close flap after emptying cassette.

And open flap before making deposit.

Always tell the occupants you are emptying.

Stops the kids dropping a Richard the Third into the empty compartment. 😢

On our thetford the act of sliding the cassette in opens a vent on top of the tank, maybe yours is stuck 🤔

Make sure 'er indoors knows when you are emptying it. In our tugging days I came back from emptying the cassette to find 'er indoors had done a No.2.

More from our tugging days, early cassettes didn't have a vent. I emptied the cassette at our last stop in France, on the way back from Dover Young daughter desperate for loo so I let her use it. A couple of weeks later I was cleaning the washroom & forgotten about daughter's use, opened flat, Woosh Bang, Lenny's face cover in sh*t.

I always shut the seat before operating anyway, I've had little spots of piss flick up on my face before because of the speed it moves at 🤢 you only do it once don't you 😖

Forgot to add we ways switch the fan on now, to create the downdraft. No blowback or venting problems anymore.

As you've said, any mistakes with the toilet resulting in a number 1 or 2 shampooh are only done once.

Open flap, couple of sheets of loo paper each side and partially covering opening and chocs away. Result - normally a clean pan and no need to leave nasty bits using loo brush.
