Does anyone know a quick & easy way to save Google maps.
The only way I can see is to e-mail the map you want as an attachment to yourself and then save from there.

Hi Jim
I wanted to save it to the computer so I could access on the move if I needed to rather than printing. I don't have a mobile internet access. Am I right in thinking if I saved to "My Maps" I'd need internet access?

A suggestion:

Find a copy of a PDF writer (Adobe PDF format) such as freepdf, cutepdf and install it on your PC (These programs are freeware)

The PDF writer is installed as a """Printer"" but writes pdf files to a folder.

Using Google Maps, print the map, when the printer window displays, chose the PDF writer and save the pdf image in a prenamed folder.

Worth a try

Hi Rory

It really depends on whether you want interactive or not.

If I just want a picture of the basic map I 'copy' it then put a new page into photoshop and paste it there. I can then chop and change it to suit my needs and finally save it as a PSD, a PDF or a JPEG.

Depending on the size picture that you want - you could do a 'screen grab' and cut and paste from there.

I think that if you want an interactive 'My Maps' type google map then you need the internet on to use it.

if you are using vista you could use the snipping tool to save the relevant portion of the screen as a jpg or bmp

I've just tried the following and it works on my setup.

Start the print sequence for the map and when the print "preferences" page appears save to "file".

In my case it saves a copy to my documents folder.

May work for you too...certainly worth a try.

Good luck

Sorry Ror,

A bit of a bum steer in my previous message.

Yes, it does save into "my documents" but I cannot open the file from there.

TonyIsh solution looks worth a try.

hi Ror,

just tried this and it works, on my puter anyway.

download 'Screengrab pro' (click on 'link 1')

use the tool to grab the whole screen or a section of it as needed.

save as a jpeg to my pictures.

open 'my pictures' and double click on the file and it opens, on mine, as a 'windows picture viewer' image.

end result......
