I’ve just renewed the insurance on my 2008 CI Carioca /Fiat Ducato and noticed that it stiipulates that the vehicle must have an immobiliser fitted. I’ve always assumed it does but not sure how I’d check that? Same with an alarm...I’ve never heard the alarm and it doesn’t beep when closing doors using key fob. Anyone know what’s fitted as standard with an 08 Ducato?

AFAIK it will have a Thatcham Cat 2 immobiliser as standard from Fiat but it probably doesn't have an alarm as they were not standard.

The alarm test is easy.
Lock yourself in, wait a minute then try opening a door from inside without using the fob.
If the door doesn't unlock, open the bonnet instead.
It's doubtful an alarm won't cover the doors AND bonnet.
Immobiliser is standard on Fiat vans and insurers know that, but I suppose its a generic form. .

All cars have had to have them since 1995 or 1997 so I asume vans will be the same or maybe a few years behind. 2008 will defiantly have one.

Try stealing it (y)

As previous answers, all vehicles manufactured in the Eurozone since 1997 have had a factory fitted immobiliser as standard. You will have a chip in the original key fobs.
