Beautiful at Stonehaven as well, just had a pint of real ale sitting in the sun overlooking the harbour.

Shhhhhhhhhh, don't tell everyone they'll all want to come!

Wall to wall sunshine in Ayrshire too, wild camped at Loch Doon Castle only to be woken by some twat flying a drone at stupid o'clock or so I thought til I realised that it was 10.30am.

Spent the day in a hangar at Perth (not) fixing my plane. Not happy with everyone saying how wonderful it was outside. Sanity restored by malt whisky on the patio this evening :)

So Hazel has finally had a night in the van then??

Lol not yet Sandra, still shaking the odd system down but, we might try to head out tonight to do an aurora watch if the sky stays clear.

Just google earthed Loch Doon, saw lots of these signs and carefully placed boulders:(
Bloody Spoilsports, as lovely views could be had.

The boulders were placed as some people were bringing caravans up to the loch & leaving them there all summer, then some were dumped when they were finished with them along with rubbish etc.

The locals got together to build a community lead legal camp site which has been open for a few years now, I believe they have mains hookup but, not sure about toilet block yet.

There are plenty of places to wild camp up at the castle & beyond, it all depends how much privacy or solitude you fancy.

Glen Trool is even better for wild camping.

I have wondered how that Loch Ness monster spotter gets away with living in his caravan full time on the shore.

Me too, I'm disabled but, even I could do that, gimme a job.

Still gorgeous at Sunny Dunny.

We’re heading off up north tomorrow afternoon....... got the ferry booked to Ork-er-ney for a few days late next week. Might catch some of the folk festival while we’re up there. Needing the break. Can’t wait!!

Was in Grantown twice last year in May and June when the weather was similar. Lovely wee town for a walk round and parked up by the Spey.

We had the last few days of April and the first week & a half in May doing the NC500'ish, plus seeing relatives in Ayrshire on the way back down.
Weather was warm, clear and sunny, the sea around Durness/Scourie was turquoise Blue just like the Caribbean, we wild camped only using two sites to fill & empty. There wasn't a midge in sight!
Whats the odds of that happening again same time next year?
I think someone like Ladbrooks might have to work out those odds of that ever happening again.
Glad all are enjoying the highlands as much as we did, get lucky with the weather, and get up there before the crowds, it takes a lot of beating, great memories for life.
Next time its the Outer Hebrides for sure, using Skye as a stepping stone as its packed with hire vans:(
Happy travels

Glorious in Arisaig yesterday and today, been on the beach at Camusdarach, beautiful up here.

Shetland has been looking quite nice in recent weeks. I've been checking out the islands tourist CCTV and they've had some cracking weather up there.

I'll be there soon enough - most likely when it's pi$$ing it down with 110mph winds :D...:(

We had cracking weather this time last year, leading up to the late May heatwave we experienced on Skye, including a couple of forest fires while we were over there.

I’m hoping the fine weather returns for next month’s jaunt back up the west coast, including windy Tiree.
