Thanks for all the suggestions. Like Emmit said, our current insurers would insure us but with significantly reduced cover after 60 days unoccupied.
If anyone needs something similar, the cheapest cover we found (including quotes from the suggested M&S and C&MC) for full unoccupied cover up to 90 days was with HomeProtect (trading name of Avantia Insurance, and with policy underwritten by AXA).
They also provide cover (at higher cost again) for up to 180 days unoccupied if you need that - we don't.

We were told by Direct Line that provided we had people popping in to the house weekly we would be covered under our existing policy but we could not guarantee that so had to purchase an absence specific policy and found ours with Home Protect. More money but understandable. We checked with insurance people they where happy. If we had people visiting or stay over night.
Also people didn't mind as at the time we lived in a pub
Rent the house out?Hi what do people do while there away are insurance said will only cover us for sixty days we want to for ninety day
