Just arrived at Squires, South Milford, the journey down the A1 was awful, kept passing lorries that had been blown onto their sides, sat with GT to calm down, terrible conditions and the van is rocking away in the wind

My sympathies, still waiting to hear from my son who took the Liverpool to Belfast ferry last night!

Welcome to South Milford, don't know where or even what Squires is as I have lived here less than a year. (y)

Perhaps there are two South Milfords

Safe travels, the wind is strong in Glasgow too.

Devonbeekeeper, thanks for that, and a question if I may,

How do you know all your bees come from Devon

Good question! A very topical question too in some beekeeping circles where there is a movement to bring back the native British Black bee which has been usurped by Italian based bees, which came during the nineteenth century .
The most famous Devon bee breeder was Brother Adam of Buckfast Abbey but after his death the best place to buy a Buckfast Bee - was Denmark!
I used to buy queens from there at around 50 euros each but the top notch Queens were hundreds of euros a go- I was never in that league - too worried I would squish one!

Yes, Squires is a long established and famous biker cafe and campsite

Seem to remember a Bikers Cafe called the "BUSY BEE" honestly can't remember exactly where it was, but it was ,I think!!! somewhere around the NORTH CIRCULAR (I think!!!) Talking about late 50s early 60s now!

Squires is in Yorkshire, South Milford, has a Wakefield postcode, but is closest to Ferrybridge with its famous cooling towers beside the M62

Thanks for the replies gents, I now realize where Squires is, damn dangerous running around the roads down here at times, bikers

  • You would have needed your brown corduroys on going over Brittania bridge Anglesey today.

Amazingly the driver survived this today near Birmingham!

Squires, best fish & chips in North Devon at Braunton!

Love North Devon, used to site the caravan at Combe Martin, there's a decent chippy there as well...Black and White I think it's called

Hope it calms down a bit for you Mark, failing that I hope you've got a good supply of G&T!

Just driven non stop from Denmark via Calais back home to Wirral.
The winds ALL the way were horrendous. I was blown this way and that. Quit a few times there were gusts that felt very strong and had my heart pumping. It's also heavy on the fuel when the wind is against you. Quite frightening, even when I stopped for a break and had a lie down, some gusts felt like they would lift the motorhome even at 4.5t. Glad to be home safe & sound. I hope everyone else is alright too.

Thanks Antony

Went over the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct yesterday - quite windy then !!!!
